Script ID 30069 sounds suspicious. Assuming the game did not have at least 3000 scripts, it sounds like the file has been corrupted. (We really ought to improve that error message.)
So you tried just running the game.exe that it came with, and not the latest stable OHRRPGCE version? Support for games from 1998 isn't too good, you'd likely run into problems if you tried the latest stable OHRRPGCE version, but you can try anyway. You might want to try a nightly instead of Xocolatl. _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

I tried both ways, running the game.exe in dos (This isn't the game.exe that came with OHRRPGCE) and using the OHRRPGECE. I got the other game.exe from the demo version (the demo version I had issues with the teleportation from different sections of the dungeons). The other way I ran the game is using the OHRRPGCE program. The program version I used was The O.H.R.RPG.C.E version xocolatl+2 (released April 3 2009) which gave me the script error. I had no issues with the game back when I got it. I am guessing it's because I had the proper game.exe file to run the game.
What version of OHRRPGCE would you recommend if you suspect that the most current OHRRPGCE is causing the scripe error when it translates the game at start-up? |

Ah, so you don't have the original copy of game.exe that the full version came with, but you do have the one from the demo? Well, what are the modified dates on the full version's .RPG file, and on the copy of game.exe that you have?
If the copy of game.exe from the demo is too old for the full version and that is what is causing your problems, then you'd probably have most luck with a slightly newer version of the OHRRPGCE. Unfortunately, old OHRRPGCE versions were not archived before 2002.
You could try this: http://www.castleparadox.com/gamelist-display.php?game=183, but I'd bet that it'd be too old.
Alternatively, try the Ypsiliform release candidate, or a version from a couple years ago, to get around whatever's causing the script error, like Voxhumana: http://hamsterrepublic.com/ohrrpgce/archive/
I think I might try building an archive of old copies of Game.exe, pulling them from old games. _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |
