Right, Euphoria on my computer isn't liking apt-get, synaptic manager, gdebi...or auto installers, therefore I assume it'd be somewhat easier to do a manual install.
Unfortunately, as luck would have it, I haven't had to do this before and therefore no idea what half the information means. For those who need the information...

2. Freshly downloaded and extracted tarball

Now, firstly I'm having a few issues following the install manual.

I'm not entirely sure what path to add it to. I could end up doing something not so pleasant to my system and although UNR can format and reinstall in fifteen minutes flat (hey isn't that faster than a windows Vista startup?) I'd prefer not to.
Now, firstly I can't find (via the internal search tool (included hidden files)) .bash_profile. I can only find .profile

Neither of those deb files I linked to from the wiki worked with gdebi? Weird... Is it giving you any interesting error messages when you try?
As for the path thing, you can put it in your .profile
newer versions of bash use .profile instead of .bash_profile |

Last night seeing your plight I translated the HSpeak source to C (Euphoria has a tool to do that) and uploaded it to the wiki. However, right then there was a power cut so I went to bed. Glad to see James solved your problems in the meantime. Oh well, it'll still be useful to anyone who does not use a .deb based distro (I use Slackware myself). _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |
