Is there a way to "tweak palette" in a targeted way?

Like say, make everything greyscale except for a certain hero or NPC/sprite?
Or maybe make everything dark or nearly black except for a certain NPC/sprite?

The only way to do that is to draw the sprite you want to exclude using only colors that are not included in the tweaked range.

And of course, you won't be able to use tweak palette if you do that; use readcolor and writecolor. (Also, tweakpalette is pretty basic and will fade all dark colours to black (or all bright colours to white), so it's reasonable to write your own version anyway.)

Tweak palette can do color ranges. But yes, read color and write color give more control
