I've recently added bug 848 and 849 to the rooster of bugs.
Bug 848: New Textbox creation uses sfx from previous textbox
Bug 849: Accidentally walking an NPC/hero twice can misalign
Both have been equally driving me crazy while developing my heart of OHR game. The textbox one mainly... I would imagine it would be an easy fix too.
A way to test textboxes in CUSTOM.EXE would be nice, as well as to perhaps visually create plotscripts for NPC/Hero movement on the map would make things interesting.
For the second one, add a new menu item to CUSTOM simply called "Waypoints". This could be in the map data for example. Then these waypoints can either be attached to an NPC movement, or called from a plotscript to more easily move an NPC/Hero on the map.
A way point could be added to the map using a door-map like editor, and connected using an tile animation like editor. Adding events like break which would temporarily pause the current waypoint and go back to the plotscript for further commands.
Plotscript commands could be:
use waypoint (npcref,waypointID, blocking=True)
resume waypoint (npcref,waypointID)
pause waypoint (npcref,waypointID)
The coder can check where the NPC is on the waypoint by using NPC X and NPC Y and pause if needed. _________________ Current project: Chronoboy Adventures

Without further delay, I now give you a sneak peek at my up coming Heart of OHR game, simply titled: Chronoboy Adventures
http://www.chronoboy.com/projects/rpg-development/chronoboy-adventures
This is my main project page, of which contains information about the game, and of course it's blog. I hope to in the next few days to have more entries and screenshots for you all. The current screenshot if of the intro fly by and does not expose any of the plot. I always hate when people ruin the plot of a game for me(eg. remember Shiek in OoT), so I won't ruin any of the plot via this blog at all. It will only unfold as you play the game. _________________ Current project: Chronoboy Adventures

Dangit, I found out about this one too late!
I'll see if I can throw anything together for Maces Wild, but I'm not making any promises.
My feature request would be to make ring attacks so that there's the option for both the "lots of stuff hits target from all sides" and "stuff flies in circle around target" are optional for both focused and spread attacks, rather than being the spread and focused types of the same attack. _________________ "I didn't start the flame war;

Is this my first post? I think it might be. Awesome?
Anyway! I know I'm late, but I'm totally planning on doing this and releasing a game for Halloween called 'Kitty,' involving horrible things and a mansion. And a cat. Yes.
Is this where I would post my feature request? Anyway, it's (maybe) simple, I would just like a plotscripting command to use an item, just like you used it from the menu in a map. That would be awesome, because I really want to make a custom items menu.
Uhm, I think that's it. I'll post screenshots some time. |

Just a reminder to the late arrivals, the bug/feature requests are still okay to make, but I don't think James should have to ransom anything that wasn't posted during summer when this began. Certainly, he can if he wants, but anything that goes on the Heartbugs wiki now is cutting it too close to the deadline, and I can't see that being fair to him. He's already behind on this.
Make your games, though. We definitely need as many titles as possible to make this a success. Remember, they have to be RPGs. _________________ Progress Report:

Yeah, I should have commented on this sooner, but no bounty money for late declarations. I still welcome feature suggestions of course.
I updated the HeartBugs page. As far as I know it mentions everybody who has expressed interest in making a game for this contest.
I am way behind on my bug fixings. I have only finished one (and TMC mostly finished another)
I might get a few more done before the deadline. We shall see. I'll wait until the deadline passes before I start doling out the cash ;) |

James, you forgot to add chronoboy's request to the wiki.

chronoboy, you might want to specify which bug is more important to you. You only get two requests if you win
I know you made a request for zlib back in early August when bounties were still given, and I know that the request was shot down in late September, and I know that the above request(s) is a replacement for that. Technically, it's too late to get a ransom on your bug request, but because this is a replacement for something that was made on time, once again I'll have to let James balance the decision.
I suppose I should've posted a disclaimer about near impossible bugs.
I believe the original plan was to keep the original bug and dish out a low bounty if it fell into the near-impossible category. We didn't really account for replacement bugs, especially for those posted late.
James, is it better to do a low bounty on chronoboy's zlib request, or a free bounty on his replacement (whichever one he wants as his entry bug)? chronoboy, which is more important to you?
Oh, and just a reminder to everyone else, bounties are only given to submitted entries, so be sure to finish your games on time. Games released after the morning of December 1st won't get bounties delivered. _________________ Progress Report:

Oh, right, I forgot about the bounty money anyway. Ha ha.
Not like I would have accepted it, that would feel counterproductive to my eventual goal of proselytizing (word of the day much?) everyone I know into using the great and wonderful OHRRPGCE. |

I'm going to working through requested bugs and features as well, and it shouldn't be hard for us to get through most of them. However, I will likely spend time on requests James has rejected :)
Bug 848 was really trivial, so it would have been an odd request. That's the sort of thing you could reasonably expect us to fix immediately instead of waiting a few months!

You're in luck: I'll be writing a new textslice and textbox text editor soon, and will include this, at least partially.

You're in luck again! You and Bagne seem to preempt all my plans. I talked about a possible "paths" feature is the Suggestions thread. Your suggested form of paths in interesting, thanks for the suggestion. _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

TMC, you are awesome for helping me with any part of the requests, even and especially the ones I wasn't gonna do ;)
Nobody has been asking for this, but I am really chomping at the bit to start working on full mouse support in game. I have a pretty good Plan for doing it in a way that will not disrupt mouse support in an existing games, yet will allow all old non-scripted games to take advantage of it with no special extra work on the part of the game author.
But I'm going to focus on some HeartBugs first. |

questions:
-Can I submit a really bad game under 30 min of gameplay and still submit a bug/feature request?
-Do I have to make a game to submit bug/feature request?
-Is there any way i can submit a bug/feature request? _________________ Happy RPG Makin |

I received a few Emails from Bugzilla lately stating that 848 was resolved in the nightly, and 849 is being looking into with the possibility of a new bitset being added so it won't break older games that may take advantage of this bug. Frankly, bug 849 is driving my nuts when I script player/NPC movements. I would prefer, if the engine sees two "walk npc to y" on the same NPC, that if the NPC is still moving with the last one, to then use the new Y and disregard the old one.

Great, can't wait to see it in action.

What was the other form suggested of this feature? Making Waypoints/Paths as native to OHR as possible would be best, as it would match the rest of how everything works. Using a door-like editor to place points on the map which can be connected using another editor(much like how like the doorlink editor works) would be best. Perhaps a way to test a Waypoints/Paths as well would be great too(NPCs may get stuck). _________________ Current project: Chronoboy Adventures

Yes. Bugfix and feature requests will be considered whether you finish/enter your game or not. The difference is that unfinished/unentered games won't get the bounties for them. You also won't get the second request, which is only offered to the winner of the contest.
If you haven't submitted your request by now, you won't get the bounty anyway, but that was the rule for the early birds. It'll also be the rule for when I do this contest again in 2012 or 2013.
Quote: | -Do I have to make a game to submit bug/feature request? |
See above. Note: You do at least need to announce your game on the Heartbugs wiki (or here) if you want to stand a better chance at it getting considered. That's where James checks for pending requests.

These questions are really redundant. _________________ Progress Report:

For this contest it is too late to make feature requests, however anybody can make feature requests and bug reports unrelated to this contest. Check the wiki for the page that explains how to use bugzilla. Bugzilla is usefull both for requesting stuff and for checking to see whether or not someone has already requested the same feature you are requesting or reporting the same bug you are reporting (in that case, you don't need to report it again) |
