Are you using an intel or power-PC Mac? _________________ Working on rain and cloud formation |

Should I have also downloaded the Windows installer? I only downloaded the file at the beginning of this thread. |

No, once you unzip the folder, you should be able to just double click game or custom and they'll start.
That's how it works for me.
I've been running them on an iMac and MacBook, both of them running OSX 10.5 or higher.
I think I heard someone say it should also work for 10.4 ... _________________ Working on rain and cloud formation |

I think they should work on 10.4, but I don't know whether anyone has tried it.
Was a c_debug.txt or g_debug.txt file created in OHRRPGCE-Game/Custom's folder?
Could you try the following: open Terminal and navigate to the location of OHRRPGCE-Game (or OHRRPGCE-Custom). (If you're not familiar with the console: type "pwd" to see the current directory, "cd dir" to change to a subdirectory, "ls" to view the contents of the directory. 'Desktop' will probably be a subdirectory of the initial directory)
Then type (hint: you can use tab completion)
Code: | OHRRPGCE-Game.app/Contents/MacOS/ohrrpgce-game |
Are any messages printed to the console? _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

Okay, tried it. It didn't work.
However, I'll be getting an upgrade soon enough, so it doesn't really matter. |

But it does matter to us because we would love to figure out why it doesn't run on 10.4 :)
so you tried the console thing and it didn't print any messages? |

So I'm kind of a noob here now, but I also have a bug to report concerning the Mac distribution of the creation engine.
I opened the custom for the first time and created a new RPG file, and then it totally crashed on me. It opened up a txt file, "c_debug_archive"
The contents are listed here:

I am running Mac OS 10.6.4 with an intel chip. Any way I can fix this?
Sorry about the long post. Thank you for any help.

You seem to be using the very first release (odd, I didn't think that it was linked to from anywhere in this thread). I think that I've fixed that problem already: try downloading the latest version from the updated link in the first post (which is getting a bit old by now; I haven't had access to a Mac for a while) _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

Thank you very much for your help. I suppose mine was a lot older, and this one works great.
Thank you very much. |

Thank you for your help so far in this endeavor. So far everything is working great on my mac. However, I am having problems with the Mac OS X port on my friend's mac.
We are planning on making a game together, but we can't seem to get the port to work on his laptop. Instead I get an error that says "You can't open this application because it isn't supported in this architecture."
How can I fix this problem? |

It sounds like he has a PowerPC Mac, is that right? Unfortunately we can't support PowerPC CPUs. The FreeBASIC devs seem to have made good progress towards supporting other architectures in the last few months, but it's probably still a long way off.
However, if it is actually an Intel Mac, what version of OS X is it? _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

EDIT: The post I was replying to was deleted.
The last uploaded version does support enemy counter attacks. James just never mentioned it in whatsnew.txt.
I can't upload a new build because the FreeBASIC port doesn't work on OS 10.6, and I don't have access to an older Mac. Until I work out why, someone else will have to compile. It's about time I wrote the 'Compiling in Mac OS X' page (done). _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |
