You know what might solve Wikipedia's financial stability? Well, the Wikipedia is basically an encyclopedia, right? Well, why don't they take the most popular articles and publish, once a year, a paper back encyclopedia. I'm sure with the proper program, it could be all automated too, right to the publishers desk.

Jimmy Wales could easily make money from this for the sole purpose of funding Wikipedia/Wikimedia foundation.

Now, if you go and say, well they are a non-profit organization, so making money is out of the question right? Well, then why do these girl guides selling me cookies from their non-profit organization? Simple, all the money collected from the sold products is basically a donation to their organization and a charity of their choice.

What does everybody think here about this idea? Do you think Wikimedia could do this to raise money for their efforts? Or do you think they could make money elsewhere, say a Kindle app or something.

I noticed today that they had removed Jimmy's face from every page. They replaced him with a picture of Wikipedia user Karteka.

I donated.

Then on the thank-you page after processing my donation, there was Jimmy staring back at me again! Grrr!
