|
|
I just noticed that we have bitsets for being weak, strong, and absorbing elements, but not for being immune to them.
i get that attacks can fail vs. an enemy type, but this doesn't work for heroes. plus, maybe you're using enemy types for something decidedly non-elemental.
anyway. seemed like a strange omission so i thought i'd bring it up. |

Your (or rather, my?) timing is perfect, as I am adding that today. _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

Woohoo! No more faking immunity with the combination of obnoxiously high defense, "damage can be zero," and elemental resistances!
Seriously, this is something I've wanted to see added for a really long time. I'm surprised it's taken this long for elemental immunities to get in, though I guess it's possible that it's one of those things that's a lot more complicated to code than it seems. |

awesome. now I can make non-elemental enemies that are immune to stuff. _________________ Current project progress:

A good workaround is to use the resistance bitset as a immunity. Why? Because having a resistance against an element reduces the damage so much to where they might as well be immune.
Then you set the attack to "fail vs X resistance", and you're set. Immunity is more useful, especially if you want to get fancy with battles. |

Which I'm sure many of us want to do. We like fanciness in our battles. _________________ Current project progress:

Just adding a set of elemental immunity bits to heroes and enemies and items and updating the hero bits and save file format and equipment bits merging and battle calculations would probably only have taken a few hours (longer a couple years ago)
But I'm not doing that. I'm actually working on raising the number of elements to 64 (a temporary limit) while implementing all of 'Plan for more flexible elementals'. That's why it's taking so long (I sure missed the HotOHR deadline, so Fenrir gets $10): so far I've only finished the hero-related changes. There's not all that much to see in the nightlies yet, actually it's probably a better idea to avoid them for a couple more days. But if you're already using them, (as usual) do not attempt to downgrade, you could lose all your hero data. If you didn't already lose it when the Jan 1st nightly corrupted it!! Sorry. _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

Whoa, there was a nightly with a bug that corrupted all of your hero data?? That's pretty scary. Good thing I only update to a new nightly every few months or so...

Wasn't mentioned anywhere, but I thought I should:
As of a few days ago, the new elementals stuff is finally finished (there were plenty of distractions), except for a few extra things (more "equipment elemental merging" formulas, some script commands, maybe changes to editors to make them more intuitive. Also, the "Old awful" formula will be changed a bit.) _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |
