I started my game quite some time ago and haven't been in it for a year or longer, so it's an older file. Now, I've forgotten my password and can't get in. I read about "RESETPASSWD.EXE", but can't find the file and when I open the newest version of Custom, it doesn't give me any kind of prompt or anything. Is there any way to use that file or do I need to email James to crack the pw? And once I can access my game again, will the Reset work once it's updated, so I can use that if ever this happens again (NOT that I plan to forget again! consider me chastened.)?

Hmmm strange that custom would not give you any prompt. I wonder if maybe you found a bug?

I don't remember any password resetting exe (not that such a thing would be hard to make)

You can send me your game, either in an e-mail to Bob@HamsterRepublic.com or but uploading it somewhere and posting a link here. I'll figure out what your password is so you can remove it.

"RESETPASSWD.EXE"? I've never heard of that program. Neutral

I recommend asking James to retrieve your password for you. He's nice like that and helped me a while back with a shitty game contest entry I wanted to practice on.

Thanx, James; I'll go ahead and send the game to you via email...

And for the record, the mention of the .exe I mentioned was in the FAQs, when I did a search for "password"; here's a link to it, you may want to remove that, if it's not accurate or if it's older information or something:

"An idea would be for James to add a Secret Question/Answer to the RPG file, which can be used if one forgets their password. Say a new very small program called RESETPASSWD.EXE, which basically read the GEN lump for the Secret Question/Answer and allows the user to change their password if forgotten."

Now, looking at it again, I guess it's someone's suggestion, rather than fact. My bad. Sorry.
