Hi.
I'm now to all this, so one quick question. Is there a way of having the battles played out final fantasy 1 style? I mean giving my hertoes a tasks for a round, letting it play out and then assigning tasks again?
This action bars are all cool and everything, but i always liked the oldschool way better plus it would fit my project better ^_^
Scripting will probably be the answer, was just wondering how difficult it will be...
Thanks a lot. |

There's a few options you can set under Set General Game Data > Preference Bitsets... labeled "Pause on all Battle Menus" and "Pause on Battle Sub-menus. That would get you closest to FF1's battles. There's also an option to hide the ready-meter, as well. |

You should know, though, that the strict answer to your question is "No." The general game bitsets might make it look or feel a bit more like turn-based battles, but all OHR battles are still tied to the battle-ready meters whether they're shown onscreen or not. The pausing bitsets only mean that the player can take their time choosing their options; this does not simulate anything close to choosing a set of actions for a single round. |

Goodness gracious, that would be far too logical!
Once we actually have those kinds of options, they'll be in the Battle System Options menu. The preference bitsets are just a poor man's version of real customisation. However, I was actually thinking of splitting up the general preference bitsets, including separating the battle system ones.
Oh, and no, can't use scripting to fix this either unfortunately (scripts can't be used during battles) _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

Heh, thanks for the info. It's yet to be seen if you will be faster in releasing build with this feature of me in releasing the actual game :) |
