Alright, I'm working with Alectormancy +2, and I found a bug.
NeoSpade (I pray I got his name right haha) also said this bug bugged him, but I found a nice (odd) way around it.
The issue is that percent-based healing spells damage the player even
if "cure instead of harm" is turned on.
Say the damage settings are as follows:
-Damage Math: Health = 20% of Maximum
-Base ATK stat: 100
-Base DEF stat: default
-Target stat: Health
-Extra damage = -80%
This is supposed to heal the player 20% of max hp, and it does this during battle, according to NeoSpade. But it damages the player on the main menu, 20% of Max Hp.
And I have a non-programmer's fix
-change the extra damage to 20%, so it deals 120% of Maximum. I believe this fixes it as such because that "Base ATK stat" dosen't calculate into the healing bitset (or something like that) _________________ #AlphaWolf#

I'm not sure what you mean. I think you're also confused! The calculation of attack damage is certainly extremely confusing, I am probably the only person right now who knows entirely how it works (in a week or two I'll have forgotten and then no one will know).
Percentage-based attacks behave completely differently depending on whether the "%-based attacks damage instead of set" attack bitset is on.
If it is on, then that attack does 20% of Max HP damage, and the Cure bit should be respected. If it is off, then that attack sets the HP to 20% of the maximum (just like it says!), and the Cure bit and nearly everything else (such as elements) are ignored.
In either case, you're meant to get the same results in and out of battle. If you don't, that's a bug.
My conclusion is that you mistakenly left the "damge instead of set" bit off. Setting your HP to 20% of Max isn't a very useful healing item! I just tested with the bit on, and it worked as expected.
(By coincidence I am currently changing the way damage is calculated because these percentage-based attacks are so awfully confusing, but I still would like to hear bug reports, because I won't be changing the damage of existing attacks.) _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |
