Im not sure if this is the right place. But I am playing Final fantasy H
and I talk to the chocobo Lukahn gives me at cresent lake, and it takes me to the summit of the volcano. But as soon as I go to enter the volcano dungeon itself. The game crashes every single time.
Saying " a problem cause game.exe to stop working correctly. It says windows will close the program and notify if a solution is available."
Standard crash message. I need to know how to get it to stop crashing so I can play the game and finish it. I was really getting into it and now I cant get any farther because it keeps crashing.

Thank you for reporting the crash!

I am guessing that you are using the exe file included with Final Fantasy H.

Please download the latest stable version of the OHRRPGCE http://hamsterrepublic.com/dl/ohrrpgce-minimal.zip and unzip it into the same folder where you unzipped Final Fantasy H.

Then run game.exe and choose Final Fantasy H and see if it still crashes.

Let me know what happens.

Can you send me a copy of your saved game from right before the crash? I would like to try to reproduce the crash on my own computer

The file that contains the saves will be a file named FFHNORM.sav (or a folder named FFHNORM.saves if you saved using the newer version game.exe)

You can e-mail the save to Bob@HamsterRepublic.com or upload it somewhere and post a link here, whichever is easiest.

I was able to reproduce this crash, and I have added it to our bug tracker.
'' . bug_title('976') . ''

The crash is triggered by the music in the Gurgu Volcano. As a temporary workaround until we figure out how to fix it, you can try:

http://hamsterrepublic.com/ohrrpgce/nightly/ohrrpgce-wip-directx-native.zip
Plays music with a different backend. Won't crash on the Gurgu Volcano music (but might possibly have other music/sound problems)

http://hamsterrepublic.com/ohrrpgce/nightly/ohrrpgce-wip-directx-silence.zip
Guaranteed never to crash for any music-related reasons... but doesn't play any music at all :P Good for people who like to play with the volume muted anyway... and terrible for everybody else!

Do I unzip one of those files to the same directory I installed
Final Fantasy H? Just checking before I unzip it so I can make sure I do it right.

Actually, probably the easiest and cleanest way is to unzip into a new folder, and then copy FFHNORM.rpg and FFNORM.saves into the new directory

Then run game.exe in the new directory

It works great now, thank you very much. I am very pleased with the support and the help I get with this game and program. Ill be sure to report any bugs with this game or any others. And hope to play more great games using this engine.
