I've been meaning to post some info & screenshots about the game for a while now, but I guess I just never got the time to do it. I was going to make one of those cheesy poster advertisements ala Motherland or that Neke sequel joke adsvertisement to go along with the teaser I posted, but eh... I got lazy...

Anyhow, this used to be the 50% of Purgatory, until several of the playtesters said that the game's too short. I agreed. So the version that's on the gamelist as of right now is the 25% version. I hesistated for a while to release the demo, because the 50% version is almost done... but I figured showing too much in a demo isn't a good idea.

I haven't talked much about this game, but before you choose to download it, there's several things that you need to know. I'm aware that some of you are underage so I might as well warn you that there are some sexually suggestive content in the game (no nudity) and a fair amount of profanities used throughout the game. And oh, make sure you read the manual before you play the game. Cheers.

ALSO, if you get stuck on the game, send me a PM message and I'll help you. Please do not post the solutions of the game, it'll ruin the game for other people.

ps: There are two ripped placeholder tracks in the game.

Purgatory Manual

------------------------------------------------------

Things that you need to know before you start playing:

1. Resource point is scarce throughout the game. It's not impossible to get stuck in the game if you drained your resources creating weapon projectiles or
expensive protective vests.

2. Ammo clips are limited in the game. Conserve your ammo and avoid all possible confrontations.

3. Health Drinks are _VERY_ limited and only restore a small amount of hitpoints.

4. The game uses a "distance" battle system. Once you got into a battle, the enemy starts out far away from you and cannot hit you until it gets into meele range.
This enable you to fire a few shots from your luger before it gets closer. Meele weapons _WILL NOT_ work if the enemy's in long range.

5. If you still have some ammo left in the chamber when you reload, those ammunition will be gone forever. Do not reload when you still have a fair amount of ammo left in your current clip. Remember that ammo clips are fairly limited in the game.

6. There's no way you can survive without using the Pistol.

7. You can only level up at the end of each bossfights.

8. Stats do not improve upon levelling up. Levelling up only adds another survival skills.

-------------------------------------------------
Things you should avoid doing:

1. Unequiping a loaded Luger means discarding the whole ammo clip. Unless you're a masochist, I suggest that you avoid doing this at all cost.

2. Reloading in a battle is a no-no. It takes a while for Lewis to change the clip, making you vulnerable to incoming attacks.

_HAD_ you been around, yes Raspberry! Several people just went missing after Purgatory got into the playtesting stage.

Man, great stuff. Feels very "Resident Evilish". Too bad we cant have sound effects, cuz that would make it scarier.

Yeah, Sew! Where WERE YOU??!! Raspberry!

Anyways, I said it to you in person, Friend, and I'll say it in this topic too.
This game was veeeery intriguing. Even though I haven't played it yet with my music plugged in, it was still freaky-deaky!

Plus, although the dialogue's pretty rough, it really added to the sadism of the situation. Job well done!

Thanks. Yeah, unfortunately OHRRPGCE doesn't currently support sound effects :< . Part of what makes Silent Hill games so atmospheric are the music and sound effects. If the CD audio feature got implemented in the future release, I'm sure I can work something out :>

Actually, Fenix-mah-boy, I don't think he's THAT far from making as freaky as SH.

Well, it's probably reaching the freakyness of the first one... but if he reaches the freakyness of SH3, then Friend is quite masterful (and he did it all without SFX What?!?!)

Actually, in term of freakyness, I think SH1 has the best overall sense of "freaky" atmosphere. The second one is relatively tame when compared to the first, but I suppose it's not a bad thing. the atmosphere is less "agressive"... but still good. SH3's atmosphere is more like SH1's... but not as freaky but _CLOSE_. I do, however like SH3's usage of subtle scare device like the toilet scene in the mall and the statue scene in the office complex. Anyway, I think I didn't come close to achieving an atmosphere similar to that of the SH games ^_^;;
