48 Hour Contest: Once Upon Another Time...
Purposep: This year, the contestants will be taking a deeper look into Children's Fairy Tales. Contestants will choose a famous fairy tale and retell it in a style fitting for a game. But they do not have to retell the exact story.
Example: Take the 3 little pigs. The main point of the story is that 3 pigs built houses out of straw, wood, and stone, and each house but the last was destroyed by a wolf. The game, however, can be different. The characters are now 3 humans children who are being chased by an evil. They each have an ability to create golems out of grass, wood, and stone to fight off this evil. The 2 eldest, whom control the grass and wood golems, are defeated, and the youngest whom controls the stone, is victorious. (dont use this example)
In this example, the plot of the story is kept, but it is not the same story. Contestants do not have to do the same thing. They can add to the original fairytale, retell the whole story itself, or combine stories together. As long as players can see what the original story was, then it is allowed.
If there is any questions at all, just send me a message and I'll get right on it. Remember to USE THE .RPG FILE PROVIDED OR YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. And have fun.

I assume that it doesn't have to follow the fairy tale directly. That is, it only follows the basic structure of the chosen fairy tale. For example, taking your pigs example, the game only really needs to have three characters, two of which are killed by the main villian (probably in an incident involving houses, and one at a time), and a third who's thinking-ahead saves the day.
What I mean is, the moral is still there, the story is just very distorted.
This better be the case, because I love distoring stories beyond recognition. Do we have to TELL the person what the fairy tale is in our entree? Or just when we post it up? _________________ But enough talk, have at you! |

Just some clarification of what types of "fairy tales" I'm allowing.
You may NOT use:
Anything historical
Biblical stories
Myths/Legends
Modern stories
Most Novels
If you have any questions about the story you want to you, feel free to ask me.
EDIT: And thank you, IM. I really do hate Brinkster. |

Will we be graded on the fairy tale, or is that just an entree pre-requisite. _________________ But enough talk, have at you! |

heh... i'm a bit late too, but i'm gonna enter anyway... and btw... fenix... by eliminating the said types of "fairy tales" you have eliminated all of anything that someone can enter... even the three little pigs falls into those categories... just fyi. _________________ "My dearest friend if you don't mind, I'd like to join you by your side, where we can gaze into the stars, and sit together now and forever" |

Come on Fenix. Let Mamorou enter. He's a good friend of mine. And he only hears about stuff on CP from me. So, please cut him some slack, he's already done a lot on his game too. _________________ ---------------Projects----

Wow, I haven't even started yet and two people are done... I slept in until ten today, and I have to work at 5.
I'm doomed.
Anyway, here's what I thought of, if anyone cares.
Hans and Greta, the two most powerful mages in the land, are forced to leave their home countries because they are too much of a drain on their magical resources. Alone, with only a small chunk of mana, they use half of it to weave a spell of finding, so that they can find their way back to the country's power source if necessary. Unfortunately, the spell is eaten by ravenous fairy-imps!
After travelling for days, they finally come across something strange. It is an entire palace made of raw mana! Laughing like children finding... I dunno, a cottage of gingerbread or something, they begin absorbing the mana, until they are invited inside the palace by a spell eating ogre... _________________ Ssalamanderr's Journal!: http://www.livejournal.com/users/ssalamanderr/
