Scary for you and me both. CP was completely gutted to get it up and running again. New motherboard, new CPU, new RAM, and a new Power Supply.
I'm in the process of finding a new case, as I really disliked CompUSA's selection. I'm itching to reuse the old parts, but I couldn't wait a week for a new P4 to come in the mail.
For those of you who don't know, the CPU failed on August, 28th, after a few weeks of unexplained freezings. These unexplained crashes resulted in Hard Drive, RAM, and, surprisingly, DVD-RW replacements (see instant message log). On the 28th, it had finally gotten to the point where 5 minutes of uptime was an achievement worth celebrating. I was able to locate a CPU Exception, identifying the culprit.
For those of you keeping tab, that means everything but the graphics card was replaced on CP.
I have every intention of trying to setup a second tower with the old parts. Hopefully all I need is a new P4 to complete that setup. _________________

Have your heard about Linux-HA? I have just started looking into it myself, but it looks like a good way of making more than one machine back each other up. |

Well, I'm glad you figured out what was wrong, sucks that so many parts were affected. |

What was scary was when I clicked on "Peace on Earth and goodwill to men" and got "phpBB : Critical Error Could not connect to DB" Hehe. Also, Veld is still alive? _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |
