Okay, so that's a really lame title. But the point is that some different reviews would be a nice thing to have (I will explain what I mean by "different reviews"). Right now we have thirteen reviews. That's a great number considering Castle Paradox has been public for roughly one month now. However, most of these reviews have been written by the same people. Anything that is capable of having variety should have variety, and so I'm encouraging everyone to pick a game off the gamelist and write a review for it. You may not think you're a good reviewer, but who knows? As long as you don't write something blatantly stupid, it'll more than likely get through the review wait list (for lack of a better name). Find your favorite OHR game, see if it is on the list, and write a review. If the author sees it and fixes some flaws you mentioned, your favorite game will have just become better!
[Edit: Rewrote a confusing sentence.]
Yes, this is an addendum to Fenrir's other thread, but what the hell. _________________

Hmm... I wonder who wrote most of the reviews? _________________ Missing in Action

It's a b*****d. Go to the gamelist, click on the game you'd like to review and after the link finishes up, click on the add review button on the game's name bar.
When you've finished, click submit, make sure you have 2 screenshots (if you are on dialup, submit the one at a time)
CN will then judge it. Seeing as they are desperate right now they might accept it straight off, but likely CN will blow crap out of the review. (It happened to me 3-4 times.) _________________ Missing in Action

I have to Seth. Bad reviews don't help the player or the person who made the game, which means all they do is take up room. Besides, I never just refused your reviews, we talked about what you needed to improve first. Speaking of which, where's your FFH review? |

Heh. Fenrir, I'm at the mountain city. The game froze on me after an intense bout of level gaining, and I've found my interest in playing sapped yet again. Don't worry, I'll get it finished eventually. |

Was it the item shop? Or does it just randomly freeze for no apparent reason when using VDMS (which is incredibly buggy to say the least). If it's the item shop, grab the updated file and keep playing. |

I give up. It's been, what? Two? Three months? I should just face the fact that the only review I'm ever going to get is the extremely short 1 sentance per section review done in OHR: Cookbook.
Oh yeah... you can get it here, converted into the Castle Paradox format.

Yeah, it should. I didn't want Temporary reviews to be viewable by anyone other than the writer and Admins. Sorry, you'll just have to wait till CN accepts it. _________________

I was gonna review FFH, but I got to that one cave, the one where it's easy to get lost and the enemies jump out at you every other step. I hated it in FF1, I hate it here. If I were to cheat so all my characters were level 99, then I'd still get lost.
My review of the game up to that point is that it's brilliant, but I'd have to play all 7 hours or so of the game to give a competent review. You should consider the lack of reviews a compliment. People are playing through the whole thing, which is quite long for an OHR game rather than just rattling off stupid uninformed reviews. It also shows depth, as FFH appears to be a game where ten minutes won't give you a whole look at the gameplay. If it were Magnus or something, we could give it a fair review after 20 seconds of gameplay. If we feel the need to play for a quarter of a day before giving it fair shake, then we just know when we're not quite qualified, and a game that prevents reviewers from being qualified must be damn good. Then again, I don't feel qualified to review Crab's Quest. There are some doors best left unopened by man.
Another thing is that when I review I prefer to review good games with small download scores. Everyone's gonna play FFH sooner or later no matter what, but Help Wanted needs someone to announce how awesome and unflawsome it is. _________________ BANDIT REVOLVER, DOWNLOAD IT OR ELSE.

I've been pushy, and inconsiderate of others lately. It's probably because of my computer problems. It's probably because nothing seems to be going right for me recently. But in any case, it's not right of me to go around and demand things when I've given nothing in return. That's being selfish, and I apologize if I've offended anyone.
So what shall I do? I must correct this oversight. I must review a game myself, and hopefully justify my right to ask for reviews. In short, I have asked, but have not given, so I shall reverse that thinking immediately and write some reviews. I must encourage others to do the same as well. |
