Okay... so I was going to release a demo of this game months ago, but as I've been working on it, I am now at the point where I am just going to finish it before I release it. I mean, it's almost done so if I am going to drop my newbie game, I am going to drop it righteously. Check out these screens:
BOO-YA! The name of the game is "Marooned."
That's the first boss, the dreaded King Coconut. Scary guy, that one.
This is what happens when you get too close to an ant hill. You fight ANTS.
This is the first village. Each village has it own unique-looking NPCs. People don't walk around shirtless in the snow! Speaking of...
This is one section of the Snowy Grove. It's a grove... with snow.
Set on an island, my game has quite a few beaches. You have to fight ninja monkeys on this one.
Fences?! I must be out of my God-damned mind!
This is inside the volcano. And no, that grinding sound you hear isn't due to tough battles that come in way-too-frequent intervals.
Yeah... I got nothing witty to say about this one.
This is the marsh. When it animates is bubbles like a giant carbonated soda. S-O-D-A... soda.
So that's what I'm showing for now. Five dungeons! Multiple side-quests, including an arena! Secrets up the wah-zoo! The game has an entirely original soundtrack, too. And NO PLOTSCRIPTING! *gasp* Will it suck? You can find out for yourself when I release it. _________________ Peace and love. Peace and love. No more autographs. Peace and love. |

Can't see the pics. Try hosting them somewhere else.
(Also, UNCG? I work there!) |

I can see them. They look good.
How long has this been in development? I've seen the title screen pop up on the random featured game before. _________________

I've been working on this since July of '08. I think I jumped the gun a little bit by posting the title screen on the Games section.

Good! I have no idea what you are referring to!
Is anyone else having problems viewing the pictures? _________________ Peace and love. Peace and love. No more autographs. Peace and love. |

The game is looking decent so far. A good variety between the screenshots, so it looks like a game worth playing. _________________

I'm able to view them just fine. I may be wrong, but I bet Camdog was viewing the page from work and their internal network caches or blocked the images from sites.google.com for whatever reason, replacing the with UNCG urls that don't display properly. I'm sure if he were to try and load the UNCG image url directly in another browser window, he would see a UNCG error message from his internal network.
The pictures do look great although I'd love to see them in PNG instead of JPG and I think the landscapes could use more random details (like patches, flowers, starfish, etc...) to liven it up. The Marsh does a great job in that respect. The reeds, bubbles, tall grass, and skull really fill the screen space without looking cluttered. The beach and villages are a bit too empty and could use more scenery.
Cheers,

Hmm... that's awful strange, seeing as how I've been here for years and have never seen this happen before... though I suppose it's possible ITS just changed something.
But yeah, I thought you were hosting the images from UNCG's web server, since that's where my browser told me it was trying to download them from. |
