Well, Hawk said we shouldn't show anyone the caves till the game was finished, but he uploaded it and showed #JSH so I guess I can't leave you guys out of the loop. Dirt needs work, the longer I look at it the more I start seeing ninja stars and origami cranes. For once, Hawk's busting his hump and I'm being lazy. |

Damn if I know. Probably something to do with dying of thirst.
JSH had some interesting comments, which I feel should be preserved for the ages:
JSH in IRC wrote: |
giz's graphics are hilarious
i mean it in the best possibel way
the main character looks like he's dying of thirst and has ED
the skeletons are gizly in nature
the rocky walls... well, actually they look really good
floor could use some degriddan

Dying of thirst AND erectile dysfunction. I think that describes the whole game making process. |

Saaay, has anyone else noticed that there are 3 desert-themed OHR games in production right now?
(4 if Tightfloss Maiden is still being worked on) |

The only thing the dirt ground needs is to eliminate the grid, and it'll look fine. _________________

We're actually not using the OHR, but I'm not 100% clear on what it is we are using. Our tiles are 32x32, and the extra space is definitely a help. |

Hawk's got me beta-testing the first couple of areas to try and get a better balance of things going for the early game. He included the read me, with this little tidbit:
The Readme wrote: | Made by Gizmog1 and SDHawk, based upon the original game by Hachi-Roku. |
That's right: Top billing! I'll tell you later whether or not that means he's blaming me for this catastrophe. |

Daaaaaaaaaaaamn!
The initial version was really, really, really, really, really fucking hard. Totally unforgiving. You could beat every battle, but god help you if you even twitched. We tweaked it a little, I fear maybe a little too easy. But, I don't know if that's just because I learned the intricacies.
Anyway, Hawk's seen fit to release a demo (official announcement), and if his friends get to see a demo, so do mine. It's far from finished, but you can get the demo (Can't say that word enough: demo, demo, demo) here. We're looking for all the feedback we can get, so don't be afraid to tell Hawk and I whatever you think.
Just don't tell him you heard about it here.
(Oh, and you might watch this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeKIUk22wiI Sort of explains things.) |

I was blown away because I was expecting an OHR-made thingy.
Then I read your post. It ain't so shocking anymore. But still, the visual effects really caught me off-guard, particularly scene transitions and shadows.
Seriously, look at that. TRANSPARENCY. |
