  FLAME ON!-

As usual, another pointless flame war has broken out on the boards, though this was a particularly big and multi-tentacled one. It began with me, (D’oh!) posting resident newbie and ArfenHouse hater Launcher's hilariously lame emails on the General Boards. This caused him to go nuts and write a flame-tastic and paragraph lacking post that PK ended up deleting.

Chenzi then proceeded to attack King Haggard after he posted more of usual derogatory comments on someone's game, thus spawning one huge-assed flame war. The usual’s entered the fight, and eventually someone managed to spark "Veteran/Newbie debate"again. It took several days to end, and was heroically slowed down by Ralfo posting some new pictures of Gevaldian Stakes. After this, everyone joined in, posting about upcoming games. So the war ended with a nice warm, fuzzy feeling for all.

...except Haggard, who threw himself out of the community.

  Oh well.

Pepsi Ranger rides off into the sunset-

Beloved OHR Community member Pepsi Ranger announced that he will be leaving the active community life so that he may refocus himself and become more productive. He was an inspiration to the community, with his incredibly well written reviews and articles. He will be missed.

IRC woes cause mass evacuation of Newnet-

Rumors persist of a disgruntled hacker using DOS to cripple Newnet, causing #OHRRPGCE to be down for more then a day. Various servers were tried out, until the nomad OHRers settled down at irc.webchat.org. Is it permanent? Lets hope so. Fyre has been expressing on the boards to try the OHR channel at dal.net, though it should be noted that he created the channel in order to throw off "Steve's tyrannical grip". He should be happy to know that the channel's creator is no longer Steve. If your the casual OHRer, I suggest you give irc.webchat.org a try.

Addendum: Newnet is back up, and most OHRer's have returned."

White Owl announces remake of FUABMXv4-

Veteran OHRer White Owl has reemerged in the community, announcing that he plans to remake FUABMXv4 (Fantasy Under a Blue Moon X). Older OHRers remember this game as one of the crowning achievements in early OHR History. The game was also on the cover of the OHR Monthly, Issue 5.

Links at the Hamster Republic in a state of disrepair-

Doubtless many OHRers have all ready noticed, but a number of links at the Hamster Republic have gone down, or haven’t been updated in months. These include:

The Bahamut RPG Community- Abandoned. The author also posted a large number of bad reviews on OHR games he uploaded without the author’s permission.
RPG Continuum- Hasn’t seen any updates since 1/15/2001. ShadowX seems to have disappeared entirely.
  Game Engines-
RPG Maker 95 & 2000- Link is down.
  Sprite- Last updated, 1/26/00.
Lucidity- New link, yet updated last April 9th. Rift with broken links.
  RPGDTE- Down.

Operation OHR, rising at last to the top-

Last year, after RPG Online shut down, several new News sites popped up, including O:OHR. The other contenders were OHR Depot, run by Fyre and Mel. (closed down earlier this month.) OHR Community, with a earnest new comer who wanted to create the next RPG Online, only to disappear after a week. (Guess which one I backed up? Grr.)

But O:OHR now shows off as the one and only New's site. Thanks to earlier efforts from the now famous Pepsi Ranger, O:OHR flourished, and is now a bustling center of news, reviews, and articles. I decided to lend a hand after talking with Cody and TM on IRC, and after IceMan posted his embarrassingly incomplete reviews. OHR Weekly is simply the next logical step. While we all look forward to OHR Monthly, let's face it. Rinku's got a lot to deal with, even more now that Haggard’s left. (I offered my reviewing talents, which he declined.) I intend to continue my quest of reviewing every game at O:OHR, and then using the knowledge I've gained from it to write more insightful articles.

I'd also like to thank TM for updating every Wednesday night, thus stopping O:OHR from ever falling into disrepair, and to all the new reviewers, it's great to have you on the team. Let's all work to make O:OHR the best it can be.
