Walthros

Bob Surlaw isn't your ordinary hover fish. In fact, he's been charged to destroy the world's crystals to stop the past from replaying itself. With the help of a flying seal and a walrus with super powers, can Bob triumph over evil?

Storyline: Walthros offers a truly engaging storyline, rift with plot twists, alternate dimensions and a dinosaur super hero team. Dialogue is excellent, and the characters come alive with it. A great twist to the normal "save the world" theme. I'm going to download the next demo after I'm done sending this review. Truly, OHRers are in for a treat. At least storywise...

Graphics: Uh oh. Walthros hits its first bump. The graphics are tolerable at best, but there not exactly memorable. I can't help but feel that the game could of been really polished here. Sure there decent, its just that Walthros has such a fantastic setting, and its drawn so poorly, using blocky maptiles.

Gameplay: Damn. This is what makes this otherwise fun game almost unplayable. I spent four hours playing Walthos, and 80% of that time was either gaining levels, fighting bad guys, or running from them. The speed for the characters needs to be jacked up by at least 15 points, enemies give you almost no exp, and there always way stronger then you. The battles themselves are boring, and many times I fought the urge to simply quit playing. Bob and his team did a steady 6-12 damage to all enemies throughout the game, so the battles simply get longer. If Paul would only change this, Walthros would be a grade A game. As it stands, the fights make this game incredibly frustrating. Armor and weapons offer almost no help either. Maps were small and decently designed, nothing interesting.

Music: Taken from the editor or ripped, the music is annoying and placed poorly. You'll end up turning off your sound.

Scores:
Graphics: They're not awful, but you can tell that the author didn't spend too much time on them.
4.0/10
Music: It's music, too bad its awful.
2.0/10
Storyline: Top notch. Everything is explained, with a world that is real for the player.
10.0/10
Gameplay: How could anyone stand to play three hours worth of slow, boring battles?
1.0/10
Overall (Not an average score): This otherwise great game, is destroyed by a horrible battle system. Did the creator actually bother to play this?
2.0/10
