I'll probably get flamed for this but:
Here's a little tool for overwriting the editing password on an OHR game:
[Oops!]

So, it disables passwords? Yeah, I can imagine you'll get flamed for it, but I suppose people will always find a way around any lock. |

That doesnt sound too good for some of us... Although if your cought you will probobly be punished somehow, maybe from a virus that the victim sent for revenge... (I dont see how this could come in handy anyway, it would most likely become nothing less than a nuisance... ) _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

EDIT: Bug; it doesn't copy all the imported screens for some reason. _________________ But enough talk, have at you! |

I have an overwhelming urge to try your nifty program on Sword of Jade 2. |

Heh. Programmed your games to intentially fool game editors and VDMS, yet a simple password hack program sends you running? Simply find a way to make them completely cheatproof.
Though I too am concerned with the potential applications this program will inevitably spawn, specifically more and more people blatantly stealing graphics, and people's original content. While I agree being able to still edit your own game when you've forgotten your password is a good thing, this somehow troubles me.
So in short it's good for being able to see the inner workings of an RPG if you want to know how it's made...
But extremely bad because with this, you've technically given a powerful tool for every newbie who wanted to steal some popular game and completely fuck it up by misusing the graphics, etc. |

However...that doesn't stop them from the ever so simple F12 then import. It takes a little bit more time, but it accomplishes the same end result. _________________

Thats right Fen. Some people arent as honorable as you. And as I see it, this program can either be used for good, or for evil.
(See Fens post above)
And fyrewolf is telling us to delete this post, when all the long he doesnt appriciate it when his gets deleted... I just thought that was a delicious form of what I call irony...
Use this for good, and your games will become better. Use this for bad, and get banned... I think if anything I would use this tool for good... _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

I think if a game author doesn't want you inside their games then you should respect their wishes. _________________ Locked

In that case... Ask thier permission? Via e-mail, or via chat... Chat can be unrelyable at times, so e-mail is the best way. (unless they thoughtlessly delete them ) Well, I am going to play some games to see what has, and hasnt been done... _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

I thought that if you forgot your password, you ask James for help? Not go and publicly release a program so that everyone can go and steal everyone else's games... _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

Those who are going to use this to steal people's graphics aren't going to ask their permission anyway. I should know, it's happened what... twice already?
Lookit me, the big hypocrite talking when I ripped big time video games, woo. At least they looked good, instead of what 99% of newbies out there are going to do blatantly stealing others' graphics. |
