And what about the part when you unlocked all of those old Atari games after beating it 17 times? I thought that was genius.

I didn't know anyone had beaten it more than three times since it was first released early last year, but I suppose you may have some info gained from reading the hex code.
Of course, there is that secret short cut by getting explosives early on in the game from the fanatic at the second pub, and busting a hole in a specifc section in the City Hall laser dungeon to reveal a warp to the final boss. Of course, you can't beat the final boss that early in the game unless you unlock god mode. A pity it takes an hour and a half to do so, and by then the warp deactivates.

Totally uncool. This game is just a cheap imitator trying to ride the REAL Airship 2600's coattails. Just looking at that screen I can tell you it will be far inferior to the original Airship 2600. Stealing people's ideas is bad.

Though that does remind me of the scene were the space pirates rob you of your airship fleet and turn them on you via mind control. Luckly I had built enough defence turrents to bring them down, but it still was frustrating to loose my whole fleet.

I don't think it's trying to ride the coattails, Shadow. I think it's trying to make fun of it. After all, look who the author is. I have a feeling that it's just an excuse to slap the community in the face for all the abuse that the author has received from it over the years.

And a note to the individual creating it (if it's in fact for real and not just a joke screenshot and description):

Leave me out of your game. I've never participated in the flames against you, so I don't know where these sudden attacks are coming from. I'd appreciate it if you'd stop. Thanks.

Okay, this joke needs to die now. Once Fyrewulff latches on to a joke, that's the signal that it's gone on too long and all the humor is gone from it.

Also, the glory of Airship 2600 was that it did NOT make the mistake of including mindless cameos from the community/pop culture/other games. The TOTAL ORIGINALITY is what really clinches its place as a classic.

Jabba the Hut is merely the nickname we give the character. In the game he's actually named "Franklin the Devourer". His main henchman is a comedy relief character called "Ralfo, eater of Worlds!!!" And he usually tries to live up to his name by trying to bite into the sidewalk, chipping his teeth on it, giving up and eating a handful of grass instead, and then hacking it up and nearly puking.

But actually I think Fyre is the perfect candidate for making Airship 2600. Between SOJ2 and his Human Day contest game, there's no better game maker to create something that was never intended to exist.

On the other hand you can look at it like this: He probably named those characters after myself and CN and then used voice recognition mode to make the main character say that. Since the graphics are so bad, I'll also assume that it's the scene where Fiargo turns on his favorite show "Making fun of bad art with Jimmy James Johnson, Attorney at Law".

You cannot detract from Airship 2600, your insults only make it stronger. It's probably the only video game in existence where literally anything is possible, so that screenshot is entirely possible within the game, just as it's possible in MGS2 to have Solid Snake take a guard by the legs and back into a corner to make it look like they're humping.

So is the joke dead? Well I don't really laugh at it anymore, but I still think it's a great idea, and it's main purpose still works; It exists (or doesn't exist) to inspire the imagination. I mean a guy who hates me even created an RPG file to support his version of it right? That's gotta mean it's working.

My god... you guys missed the obvious symbolism here.

Don't you all remember that part early on in the game with the Weejum Devil? And what he did to try and get the heroes to stop seeking him out?

This is OBVIOUSLY a parody of that scene, and Fyre deserves kudos for lampooning it. Big grin

Frankly, though, I liked Weejum. It's not everyday you see a bird shaped demon with a death ray strapped to his leg.

Anyways, nice joke, Fyre! Big grin

I think it's fantastic that, of all the guys who replied after the aforementioned "Atari comment", you singled me out.

You sure you're not trying to start fights? Looks that way to me, asshat. (Check your private messages, btw... I sent you one a week or so ago... trying to keep this shit off the boards)

Durandal, that was completely uncalled for. Jazz is right, if you have a problem with someone personally, take it to Private Messages, that's what they're for.

You're banned. Since you've proven time and time again that you are incapable of making constructive criticism without bringing personal insults into the fray, you are banned until you are ready to release a demo of a game.

That's right. Castle Paradox is a community focused on game design, and since you seem to feel that you need to make comments about how other's games and ideas are so terrible, here's your chance to show us how to make a great game, not just tell. Our forums should be used to help further your game design skills, not make all cap lame jokes about screwing. When you've got that demo ready, and are ready to try and act like a civil person when writing posts on CP, send me an email. Until then, get to work on your game.
