I just found an old rpg I worked on about a year and a half ago.
Problem is, I don't have the original text file with my plotscripts.
The big question is:
If I make a new plotscript file and import it into custom, will it overwrite my previous plotscripts already in the game.
I'm thinking that as long as it's a different filename, it shouldn't matter.

It shall.
Extract the old plotscripts with the plotscript extractor. On the www.hameterrepublic.com website. Then place the old into your new file. _________________

Ya know what, though? I got the Plotscript Extractor, and I have absolutely NO IDEA how to use it. There's so many things involved in the extraction that I have no idea how the hell to do, so if there's someone who really knows how to use it successfully, I would really love to know. _________________

You know, as far as I know, no one has ever figured out how to use the HamsterSpeak Decompiler. Then again, this is also the first time anyone has complained : (
Yes, I am aware the readme isn't a good guide, so I'll write one now. If/when I update the decompiler, I'll include a better one in the zip file.
Firstly, you need to extract the .hsp file from your game (ignore the text file and even prompts in the program which say repeatedly .hsd file - my error).
Just run unlump.exe on your RPG file, and copy the file with extention .hsp
Put this file along with HSDECMPL.EXE and all the files you are going to include in the same folder. You will include at least plotscr.hsd, and any other files that you included in your original that you still have. For example, if you used the 3rd party hsi, you will include that too.
Run HSDECMPL.EXE, type in the name of the hsp file, the number of included files, and the file names of the included files in any order.
When ask for formatting style, type default, and then n.
The scripts will (hopefully) decompile, if you don't like how there are formatted, play with the formatting options, theres a great deal of options to select, but some combinations might be buggy (at least, I am sure this is the case, if you find such a combination, please tell me : (
Also, please email me at TeeEmCee-at-gmail-.-com if you wanted to ask something else, not my email address given in the readme _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |
