I changed it. And no. I haven't gotten any warnings, because the sig images aren't that big anyway.

And I was just kidding around in the last post. Rolling Eyes

All work and no play makes PHC a dull boy.

The sig images don't look that big to me and I'm also running at 1024x768. Maybe it's your monitor settings?

Its pretty big, but its not that big. How big does it have to be for the Mods to warn you?

I do believe that this is sarcasm.

PHC is right, though. Big sigs are really unnecessary. Post your bird pictures in a thread in the art corner, if you want them to be seen.

This is SERIOUSLY off topic, but a valid thread. I'll just split it.

The limit for Avatars is 100 x 100, though that's only for on site avatars. Certain persons work around this issue and get larger ones, which has been tolerated - up to 200 x 200 pixels. The reason I'd give for this is that 200 pixels wide won't stretch the information bar at the side too much, and you'd have to have a longer than average post to even make it larger than 200 pixels high anyway. Until somebody actually says "no images over 200 pixels", there's really no need to enforce any rules on it.

As far as signatures go, I'd seriously consider shrinking the image down to at MOST 200 pixels high, for the reasons PHC and the others gave above, but also for the reason that if your signature is larger than your text, you either need to write more when you post, or shrink your signature down.

I don't remember warning you for your sig, but I do remember Hunter's massive hamburger. I use 1600x1200 on my laptop, and it was altering the page layout on my screen. I don't mind vertical sigs as much as I mind horizontally long sigs. Vertical scrolling is rather quick and effortless with a scroll wheel...however, horizontal scrolling annoys me to no end.

Fen makes a great point, though. When it comes to sigs, it's a good rule of thumb to limit it to under 200 pixels high.

It'd be neat to make a bunch of little images and have them scrolled down into a crude flipbook animation effect. Of course I lack any talent to do such, so let me query if my sig image is appropriately sized or not.

Indeed, although that would be both tedious and a waste of space.

It's larger than Sparrowhawk's. By almost twice the size. I'd knock it down too. In general, I think the limit for signature images should be 320 x 200, the size of an OHR screenshot. I think this is appropriate, considering that people advertize their games with their signatures mostly now. It also fits with my suggestion to limit them to 200 pixels high, and unless your screen resolution is REALLY small, it won't take up all that much room.

FYI, THIS is too big of a signature.

I don't care about filesize, but if it takes up half my browser window heightwise or stretches the tables, that annoys me.

200 pixels is an appropriate limit for an image's height. Banners and the like should also be allowed, but there's seldom a reason to put multiple images in your sig unless they're advertisements for different sites.

Yeah, sigs have been a real issue here. SIGS SHOULD NOT BE TALLER THAN 200 PIXELS.
