just officially announcing that ziggurats for red turtle has been moved from the ohrrpgce engine to the game maker engine. the latest ohrrpgce version will be released as it is, and is at http://rinku.castleparadox.com/zfrt/ZFRT.rar

feel free to play it and see it in its buggy, unfinished state.

i will now no longer make ohrrpgce games, with the exception of helping komera finish up 'wingedmene', and with the possible exception of a completed 'and&: level 99'.

Why in the world would you sink so much time into a project and then switch formats? Won't you have to start from scratch, now?

Well, as I'm sure James and TMC would agree, sometimes starting from scratch is a good thing. Besides, is he really starting from scratch? Nay. As the_dude says, he still has graphics, not to mention all the ideas he had for the OHR project.

I myself am realizing the benefits of Game Maker. Sure, it considerably harder to get something going in GM than in the OHR, especially for something as complex as an RPG, however the results can be much more rewarding.

to address the concerns expressed:

no, i won't have to start from scratch. i'm still using all of the graphics, and much of the code.

and i disagree that it's harder to get something running in the gm than in the ohr. after you learn how gm works, it's much easier to use and simpler to get a game setup.

In spite of the engine change, I still look forward to seeing ZFRT. Good luck Rinku!
