|
|
Castle Paradox has entered it's fourth year, which surprisingly coincides with roughly 4 thousand dollars spent on hosting and maintenance. Last September, I added Google Ads to the main page, hoping to create some sort of revenue from the site. In all, I have made $12.14, which doesn't even cover the cost of the DVD-RWs used for the weekly back-ups.
In all honesty, I really don't care about the costs incurred by hosting Castle Paradox. However, my study abroad burned a bigger hole in my savings account than I anticipated. Scheduling my trips to the gas station around my paychecks hasn't been all that enjoyable. Paying $54 a month for DSL has become an issue when my part time job only pays roughly $300 per month.
In an attempt to ease my bank account a bit, I've decided to implement a pay system into Castle Paradox. Starting next week, the following system will go into effect (don't worry, this only applies to new games/songs. All existing files will remain free of charge):
NOTE: All prices are in US Dollars.
$5.00 per game listing.
$1.00 per song listing. The listing allows for all supported formats. You do not have to pay $1.00 to upload the midi version and another $1.00 for the MP3 version.
In order to promote the extremely underused review system, every 10 reviews accepted earns 1 free game listing or 5 free song listings.
Cube and I are also working on pay-only features which we hope to implement soon. We are also open to suggestions for such features.
Depending on how this goes, I might even consider buying Business DSL (or Cable) at a much higher speed than CP currently supports.
Thank you,
~IM

IM, if I'm dating you, do I get a discount? 'cause you and I could go to dinner, and you could like, take me for overtime, and inspect my ballistics. |

Well, at least it's not the traditional "Zantetsuken is shutting down" one we get every year. _________________

Hopefully that's just a bad joke. _________________ Activate point A by sliding slide B through points E and Z, so that the Joint TO touches the Vector 6, however avoiding an impact with vectors 34 and 5, which both are positioned at the edge of the said object near point R. Period.

You might want to time these major major announcements a little better, boss. _________________ A broken clock is still right twice a day. |

You're telling me. Last week, when I was helping IM integrate the Paypal system into the site (I've done it before, and I suspect I'll have to do it again later... ), I realized that it was going to fall on this day. But, did IM care? Noooo. After last year, I think he's beyond caring about this type of thing. _________________ I stand corrected. No rivers ran blood today. At least, none that were caused by us.

Well its easy enough to find hosting sites that I can upload OHR up to. Games tend to be less than 10MB.
-This could be a joke
-But at the same time hosting fees do see to be a bit of a burden. But if this does happen I can see a definate fall of Paradox society. _________________ Indy OHR! and National OHR Month Contest going on now!
