I was thinking of starting a entry fee based OHR contest. Entry fees would be $5 (USD) per GROUP that enters, payed by paypal. You would win money back for placing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. 75% of the profits would go towards the contest winners (if it's a group, the group chooses how to divide the winnings), 25% would go towards the judges (which would be a group of 3 different people). Not sure if I'd do a theme for the contest or not, other than "BEST OHR GAME, PERIOD".
Wondering, if I were to start this, would anyone participate? I'd throw a website up, and have some hearings for the judges. I'd be looking for two judges other than myself (and also, judges and/or the groups they are apart of are not elibible to enter the contest). _________________ Allow me to preemptively disclose that I probably hate the person posting below, including myself. |

Why do the judges get any of it?
Oh, and good to see you back, Chenz. _________________

Good to be back Moogle.
I figured it'd be a good way to help out people who arn't m4d l33t with the OHR, who do rate games like crazy. Of course, it's just a thought. I could just do the typical "entire community votes" thing too. _________________ Allow me to preemptively disclose that I probably hate the person posting below, including myself. |

April fools was a couple weeks ago, and IM already did something similar to this.
On the other hand, assuming it's real, I'd be more than happy to judge. _________________ I stand corrected. No rivers ran blood today. At least, none that were caused by us.

MC: Don't be a jerk just because your April Fools joke sucked
And I think an entry fee-based contest would leave out a lot of the CP population. |

I was talking about IM's Pay-Per-Upload system. I know my "joke" sucked. I'm not being a jerk because of that, I'm being a jerk because this is a bad idea. Most contests are free to enter, OHR or otherwise. _________________ I stand corrected. No rivers ran blood today. At least, none that were caused by us.

Actually, most GOOD contests have an entry fee to back up the prize. I don't think the idea's gonna work very well in the OHR, though. Not enough people with money, not enough people who'll finish games, too many people who'll demand refunds. |

This is going to be a pain in the butt to adminstrate, right?
If you really want to do it, and have teams, I would have the teams submit their pay distribution to you as part of their entry. or change it to a per-person entry free.
Also, there should be a thing that "all entry fees are non-refundable". |

Fyre's got the right idea.
Yeah, it'd be a whore to administrate, but with some planning ahead, I believe it's possible.
and no, I'm not looking to jack money. A few bucks is hardly worth ripping off people for (considering my financial situation -- note I've also thought about running some contests where all of the prizes come out of my pocket. How fair is THAT!?). I'm not a thief, and even if I were, what would I need a few bucks for? _________________ Allow me to preemptively disclose that I probably hate the person posting below, including myself. |

Requiring the cash at the time of submission would also ensure a certain level of seriousness in the entrant's work. I like this idea, but then again it depends wholly on the contest. |
