Yes, I know it's art, and I like art, but I also like working out the flaws of art, especially sattire. _________________ "Everyone has 200,000 bad drawings in them, the sooner you get them out the better."

More or less, yes.
Also, this thread icould be seen as borderline trolling. I'm fairly certain this was made in response to the whole 'NSFW' thing, but the rules still stand. Unless of course, you'd prefer we allow any kind of image posted here? My duty is is simply to enforce the rules, which have been fairly lax to begin with, and for the last few years have posed no problems for any of our users.

Nepenthe, your complaint about the voting post is a valid complaint, but your image can't be embedded in the forum. It's not pornographic, but there is a level of sexuality prevalent and the nudity that needs to be taken into consideration. Yes, you can find much more sexually explicit art on the web and the link directs everyone right to the image, but at least they are given the choice to see it or not.
Had this satirical image showed up on my screen within view of another employee, or even worse, my boss, I would be forced into a situation I'd really like to avoid. And yes, I do check CP at work. In fact, up until last week, I was a math tutor for various age groups, ranging from 1st through 12th grade. Last thing I'd need is an 8-year-old seeing that image load up as he's walking past to go to his tutoring session. Even at home, I wouldn't want my brother or sister sitting in the room as an image of a naked woman appeared on my screen. When I know it's NSFW, I can choose when and where I view the image.
Off-site linking isn't a negative reflection on your artwork, nor is it meant to offend. Our site's viewers come into consideration. If the content is questionable, I'd rather be given a link that I can choose to click on or not, depending on where I am and who's in the room.
At the same time, I don't see why YSoft didn't heed your initial complaint and create links for all entries.
Last thing I want to address, after re-reading all the posts:
| Nepenthe wrote: | | This isn't about Ego. This is about art. Y'know, that little thing that makes it possible to exist in a modern society and yet is constantly pissed on by those who don't understand it? That contest is trivial, yet you'd all rather project egocentrism onto me, rather than face the real issue. Therefore, I have decided to withdraw my entry. |
This isn't about art, either. This is about social and moral standards that have been imposed on our society. The same set of standards that beeps out song lyrics and alters movie lines when formatted for network broadcast. Our society has determined that bitch is now acceptable, shit can be acceptable but is still limited, and fuck crosses the line. In this society, the female chest, male and female genitalia, and either gender's ass is considered nudity, and therefore sexually explicit here and now. Doesn't look like it'll be changing any time soon either. _________________
