I was trying to edit a few of my reviews so they'd be ready for posting...but it won't let me import some pictures! Is there some requirement? _________________ But enough talk, have at you! |

Make sure they're 320x200 (screenshots taken with print screen are 640x400, if you're using print screen for some reason), and in .gif or .jpg format. If they still won't upload, then let me know. _________________

I have to disagree. JPG is only good if you're posting non-pixelated stuff. JPG compression will ruin the pixel-quality of the screenshots.

Which is why I use gif for OHR shots. _________________ But enough talk, have at you! |

I actually hate .jpgs because of... what is it called... lossy? Or something. .bmps ARE the best quality, since everything's exact, but they take up way too much space, and like everyone else said already, take too long to load. _________________ Preserve OHR history! Do it for the children! |

Yeah, JPGs ruin pictures that have small details on them. Which means, pictures from the OHR are going to look like crap. The thing that's good about them is that they're the smallest of the three (JPG, BMP, GIF).
The quality of BMPs are perfect, but because you can have so many colors at once they tend to be huge in file size. So, BMPs are not the best thing to use.
However, GIFs are perfect for OHR pictures. They're just like BMPs in that they do NOT blur fine details (They're as good as BMPs). And because the OHR does not have more than 256 colors in the engine, the screen shots will never have to be watered down (GIFs can only hold 256 colors so they shouldn't be used with pictures that have a lot of shading, or a lot of color. That's when you use JPGs). GIFs just take up a little more space than JPGs. But it isn't THAT much bigger.
So! You should use GIFs when you can . |

GIF's is not necessarily "BMP's" however. You said it can handle up to 256 colors, otherwise it won't ruin the quality. However I had a few problems when I made my game screenshots from OHR into GIFs (ex - constant purple dots going across the water). Does that mean that what you said about a lot of shading and color apply? I did not use Paint to convert it by the way, it was Photosuite II. _________________ OHR dies hard. |

Well, you probably saved the image at a lower color depth. Or, the program you used to save them in wasn't very good when it comes to saving GIFs.
All the screen shots I have on my site for D1 are GIFs, and look exactly how they do in the game. This picture has tons of colors:
And this one just looks neat :
Erm... Anyhow. The quality is perfect in both pictures. I used Paint Shop Pro for the both of them.
So, if the color depth isn't really low, then the program you're using just sucks at saving GIFs. |

If you're using Paint Shop Pro 3.0, well, don't use it - when you save GIFs in that, it changes many blacks transparent...for some reason...(and no, I'm not even referring to the normal transparent black in OHR). _________________

Cube: Lol... I used the same style of mountains for Ethro Blue
I prefer Jpegs. Why? On Adobe Photoshop, you could adjust the quality for the image. Higher quality would mean higher filesize, of course, but not as high as a BMP |
