OK...a few months ago our tech support crashed our server...we were moved to a new server and we've been having horrid side effects ever since...
Most obvious:
~The Castle Paradox E-mail Server doesn't work...when you post something or PM someone who has "Notify Me" checked...the e-mail doesn't get sent...but the post goes through...I turned off the e-mails in posting, but I haven't gone through the PM code yet...
~The new server is set to the wrong time...subtract 12 hours from any post...then you'll get the actual time of posting...
~The SQL database was once set to automatically make back-ups to clear the SQL Transaction Log...not anymore...and due to the popularity of the site in recent weeks, it's been getting full rather quickly
~Occasionally people can't get into the site, something about a DNS error...I have no idea how to fix that...and don't think it's fixable without messing with the server itself...and since it's a remote server and our tech support is...well...anything but satisfactory...don't expect to see it fixed
~For some reason, the FTP passwords get reset every so often. How does this effect you? Well, if you try to upload any picture, you won't be able to...same goes for new games...if you have trouble uploading an avatar or game, or see something about an FTP error at the top of a page, tell me immediately...I'm the only one who can fix it, and it just so happens that I never do anything on this board that would encounter those errors...

You know IM, if some of these things don't require some special program, I could try to get them done as well. It's just that I don't know how to access the thingie that lets you change FTP passwords and junk.
And of course, I know PHP and other things, so I could do stuff with the boards (Of course, it's not like I WANT to. Editing phpBB is a pain in the butt).
Let me know if there's stuff I can do, eh? |
