why exactly is there a 30sec time limit, anyway? i've been trying to post a critique of royal's latest pic for two days, and cannot. this isn't the first time it's happened... this is why i'm so slow to critique everyone's pictures... because i can't post them. _________________ LJ.Art

Perhaps the timeout should be extended to 45 seconds, or perhaps a full minute? |

I have never had a problem with timeouts, so like, explain your problem a little better, in case I run into it I can voice my opinion on the matter. But all the same, IM is always fixing bugs on the site, I'm sure he'll get around to it sooner or later. Like how he fixed the reviewing, because some people weren't able to submit reviews. _________________ ---------------Projects----

If you are running a 56k, it is difficult to even load the main forum window, much less posts. The timeout should definitly be increased (even though I don't have 56k anymore...) _________________ But enough talk, have at you! |

Yeah...the damn php script time-out really pisses me off as well.
Basically, MegaWeb has multiple clients on the same host and to keep one website from using all the processing power, they limited php scripts to 30 second run-times. This becomes a problem for larger posts, long reviews, and large screenshots on a 56K.
Next week I go back home to California and will hopefully start hosting CP myself. I just have to finish setting up the server, buy a Cable Modem, and change the DNS.
We'll see how it goes, but hopefully alot of these bullshit errors go away. _________________

Not if you are loading a lot of things at once, it becomes extremely irritating. _________________ But enough talk, have at you! |

It never matters how fast your connection is, it's the server. It exceeded it's 30 second time limit for executing the PHP script (which is also 60% the PHP script's fault - highly unoptimized code will cause this) and tells the browser what happened.
I myself am HARDCORE!111 and never allow my scripts to execute for than 5 seconds if I can help it. _________________
