Help with puzzle in the game missing.

Hey I am playing the game "missing" The adventure in the hotel where the man looks for the wife and child. I am stuck on the third floor darkroom
I click on the portrait to look at it. and i click on it all over and it makes noises. There is a door in the dark room that opens with a mechanism and I think the picture is the mechanism. Can anyone tell me how to solve the puzzle so I can finish the game.
