Ok, so... Now that Sew has given me some art I've managed to get a couple of the portraits made for the auto menu I made. Which means, now I'm happy to show this publicly XD

This is the multi class system I designed for the game I'm creating, The Song of Twilight. Basicly, I'm just showing what you should be looking forward to tinkering with when the game finally comes out Oookay...

Ok, first of all, here's the main menu. Obviously, character portraits on the left, options on the right. You got your HP, and your TP (Not MP). Those gems though, those represent what Jobs the character has equipped and Set.

To change the job, you select Job (Duh). This brings up an optional menu with Auto and Manual in them. For now, we'll choose Manual. After that, the hero picker comes up and you're able to pick the hero you'd like to alter. We'll pick Judy for now.

Now, here we have a colorful array of gems and a ton of numbers, the gems being jobs. Numbers on the FAR right are the job Levels you've gained for each Job with the total underneath. The next set of numbers are the reduced levels of those jobs which is being determined by the OTHER set of numbers closest to the left side.

Knight = Red
Defender = Yellow
Healer = White
Wizard = Black
Alchemist = Purple
Elementalist = Blue
Thief = Green

Yes, you can mix and match jobs in this game down to the level. In Judy's case, she's 50-50 Wizard/Thief, Wizard having a total level of 29 and Thief with 31. 50% of 29 = 14, and 50% of 31 = 15. Her total level turns out to be Lv29.

Likewise, we'll show Will's percents as well:

Along with their current abilities...

Judy:

Judy has a lot of Black magic because she's 50% Wizard, while Will has a mixture of magic because he's 30% Healer and 30% Wizard.

Just for fun though, we'll set Judy to 100% Wizard and Will to 100% Healer:

And their resulting abilities and stat comparisons:

What of the Auto Menu though? Well, let's select Judy and pop into it. Here you see a big blank screen. Hit enter though at the chosen slot, and you get this:

First, we'll give the slot a name by hitting the Right Key. I'm just gonna call it Black Mage for fun. Once that's done, hit enter again, and now Left Key. You now see this:

You select the gems you want and allocate the percent you want to each one. Once you've done this, you exit this menu and now the end result is this:

Hitting Enter will bring up the job choice once again. Hitting enter for a 2nd time will then change you to your newly created job. Judy is now, once again, 50-50 Wizard/Thief. We can do this for Will too. I'll just show the pics without explaining junk though to shorten this already long page:

And they're back to the way when we started. The reason for the Auto mode is so that if you find a really good job combination you like, you can save it, name it, and change to it on the fly. It really helps swapping jobs, and is a lot of fun making your own custom jobs. You can have 5 pages of 6 customised Auto jobs, so a total of 30.

I should also mention that combing certain jobs together will produce new abilities. For example, you level Thief and Knight to Lv20. You can get HP+5% if the REDUCED level of Thief is Lv5+ and Knight is Lv15+. So, you set Thief to 25% and Knight to 75%. They are now Lv5 and Lv15 together and your new HP+5% trait will show up in the Traits menu in Abilities.

In The Song of Twilight, leveling all jobs will be very important so you can get specialized skills such as this. If any of you know me, I actually like level busting so there'll be plenty of that in this game XD. Fear not though, I'm doing my best to make sure the leveling process is fun while being productive at the same thing Raspberry!.

So, what do you all think so far? I know it's not much to go on and I kinda slapped the explaination together kinda fast... But for the time being this'll have to do since Sew still needs to make me more graphics so I can show off the rest of the game. >.<

Discuss? Raspberry!

This system you've created feels very good to me. The design is complex, yet the layout is simple and organized. I find the fact that you can save jobs and job combos with custom names to be quite entertaining. You did awesome work, man. Woa! Also like the fact that you put a lot of thought into rewards of mixing jobs and have created opportunities for people who go purely one job and for people who choose to multi-task. The only thing I am uncomfortable with is the aspect of training all of these jobs. I'd love to, but not if it means level crunching for 50 hours. :S

I assume you have ample play testers?

Mind you, I don't know the full ins and outs of Cube's system, but from what I've played, each job you have equipped receives experience based on it's percentage. I'm sure Cube will correct me if I'm wrong.

The amount to gain a level is never higher than 12,000 (And jobs can go up to Lv100). And yeah, like IM said the amount you gain is based on the percent you've added to the job itself. However, after every battle there's an randomised extra 10% that you'll recieve (Like, say the enemy drops 100 EXP. You now can get an extra 1-10 exp). If you have 2 jobs equipped, that randomised number is multiplied by 2. Three jobs, x3 randomised EXP. And so on.

That might still be a little confusing so I'll do this. You have two jobs, 40-60, and you just finished a battle where you find 100 EXP. One job gets 40, one job gets 60. Now, the randomised EXP turned out to be 8. Instead of 40, the job now gets 56. Instead of 60, the job now gets 76.

Leveling isn't TOO bad in the game, and there may still be some balancing issues to take care of in the future. But my goal is to make it so that the player will WANT to take ALL jobs to 100 without it being an insane goal to accomplish.

So anyways, the more jobs you have on the more rewards you'll recieve. There also might be EXP+ traits from certain jobs at certain levels, or treasure chests that drop items that instantly raise levels, among other things I have up my sleeve. Raspberry!
