What kind of mouse is it? If it's a USB mouse (or other) it might not work due to driver issues. |

It might be a problem with the HSpeak or the RPG file . Maybe they've been corrupted somehow. I'm not really sure beyond there. |

Might want to try just using 0 or 1 and see if that makes a difference, shouldn't, but you never know. _________________

Did you try with VDMS? It shouldn't matter, but ya never know. I uploaded a mouse tech demo (Mouse Wars) to the game list, but it asploded during upload or something. Could be a problem with the list itself, what with it moving and all. I'd upload it elsewhere for you, but it's not on this computer.

ok, I whipped up another sample. Tell me if this works when you click:

I'd like to see Pitch Black 2's investigation scenes make use of the mouse. |

I can envision a menu made with the mouse:
~ Have a spare map set to 16x10 size, and import your menu graphic as a tile set, and place it (to work around not being able to put NPCs on top of backdrops)
~ on said menu map, make NPCs for each option, and place copies of them on the map such that they cover the respective sections
~ have the mouse script check for them NPCs, and do different things based on where the user clicks.
I don't know how weildy a menu like that would be, I'll have to try it sometime. _________________ I stand corrected. No rivers ran blood today. At least, none that were caused by us.

I'm currently working a a Maniac Mansion style game. I'll try to work mouse support into it using 'Walk hero to mouse' type commands, as well as placing NPC's around with 'step on' activation. The hero can still be controlled with the arrow keys for those who prefer that. With a bit of scripting this could probably work with any RPG. The main downside I see is that it cannot be used on game and battle menus. Maybe for the next version you could do something about that? |
